We turn our attention to those of us who are committed to obeying You and we look at the new commandment that You have given us in John 13:34-35 “And now I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. If you have love for one another, then everyone will know that you are my disciples.”
How embarrassing it is for us to read this again and if we sincerely examine our lives and will realize that we did not love well. We repent for not loving each other well. We repent that we carry our biases and prejudices in our hearts and we sometimes see each other through our filtered lenses. We forgive O Lord, those who have hurt us and we choose to mend the relationships that are not right. Give us boldness and courage to do so and be obedient to Your commandment. Give us eyes to see our own faults and our own shortcomings and help us to empathize with our brothers and sisters. Restore, we pray, our love for one another so that everyone will know that we are Your disciples.
In Jesus’s name, amen.
