O Jesus, our Lord, and our shepherd,
We recognize that everything is a gift from You and we, as Your people, we really cannot give you anything. If we were to give, we are also giving back what is yours already. We admit that what You say about us is true, that we pass through life like exiles and strangers, just as our ancestors did. Our days are like a passing shadow and we cannot escape death. O Lord, whatever we have we bring together to build this temple, our bodies, our priesthood to honor Your holy name. We know that You test everyone’s heart and are pleased with people of integrity. O Lord, in all honesty, and sincerity, we pray this over the members of Your people, we come willingly to bring our broken and contrite hearts to You. Keep such devotion forever strong in Your people’s hearts and keep us always faithful to You. Give us a wholehearted desire to obey everything that You have commanded in Your words to build our bodies up to serve You.
In Jesus’s wonderful name we pray, amen.
